The theme in Chinese is a saying from Confucius’ analects, “三十而立,” which we are translating loosely as “Life Begins at 30.” It honors the Hopkin Nanjing Center’s history while keeping focus on the future. The HNC is the longest active Sino-American academic joint venture in modern China. Drawing on the strengths of two internationally renowned universities, The Johns Hopkins University and Nanjing University, it brings together Chinese and non-Chinese students to study international relations in their target language.
